Norwood Windows renews Secured By Design membership in the UK

Norwood Windows has renewed its membership with Secured by Design (SBD) the national Police Crime Prevention initiative for the range of timber and Aluclad windows and doors it sells in the UK.

SBD Development Officer Alfie Hosker said: “I am delighted that Norwood Windows has continued its membership with Secured by Design. They continually strive to improve and expand their product range, supplying not only the UK, but across a number of European markets. This current membership period will take our relationship with them into a second decade, which I hope will continue to benefit both parties".

Secured by Design is the national Police Crime Prevention initiative developed to help reduce crime by designing the potential for intruder access out of products such as windows and doors where they might traditionally gain access.

Speaking for Norwood Windows, UK Sales Director Mike Stevenson said ‘It is great news that we have renewed our membership with SBD. As Alfie said this will take us into a second decade of working together in the UK and the partnership has already been extremely valuable’.

‘This continued association with Secured By Design can only be an advantage; it will give our long established existing customers and clients as well as new customers confidence in our product range and our commitment as a company as they go to market with the exciting range of timber and AluClad windows and doors we supply’.

Norwood Windows joins the ‘Building Our Skills – Making Fenestration a Career of Choice’ campaign

Norwood Windows has become a Building Our Skills – Making Fenestration a Career of Choice partner.

Speaking for the company Sales Director in the UK Mike Stevenson said, ‘I am delighted to have committed Norwood Windows as a partner to the Building Our Skills – Making Fenestration a Career of Choice campaign’.

‘For too many years those of us who have been around the industry for a long time have been talking about the skills gap and the low numbers of new entrants to the Fenestration Industry.  To have our own campaign now trying to galvanise the industry to do something about it is excellent news and Norwood Windows is delighted to be a part of it’.

The Building Our Skills – Making Fenestration a Career of Choice campaign, is asking employers to partner with it to engage with external agencies to help raise awareness of the Fenestration Industry as a way of attracting new entrants to join it as a career choice.

Head of Building Our Skills Stephanie Tague is at the forefront of generating support, ‘the reception from the industry for this much needed and long overdue campaign has been excellent and even more encouraging is the reception from the multiple external agencies we have engaged with who are willing to look at and adopt Fenestration as a truly sustainable career choice for youngsters, leavers from the military services, and other career changers’.

‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank Norwood Windows for getting on board and supporting our ‘Inspiring the Future’ campaign in association with FENSA.  This campaign is aimed at getting as many people as possible from the industry to give up one hour of their time each year to go into a school local to them to tell pupils what they do and the industry they do it in as a way of inspiring them when it comes to career choices’.

‘Our industry has so many attractions; we have at least 15 definitive work streams for people to come into, from IT and Design to Marketing, Finance and of course Manufacturing and Installation.  Ours is an industry for everyone in terms of its skills and is truly diverse in its appeal’.

Mike Stevenson appointed to head up Norwood Windows in the UK

Mike Stevenson has been appointed by Norwegian timber and AluClad window and door specialist Norwood Windows to lead their operation in the UK.

Mike has over 30 years-experience in the industry and this new challenge gives him the opportunity to launch and develop an exciting range of new products across a variety of market sectors.

‘I am delighted to have secured this opportunity. Norwood Windows is one of the largest suppliers of timber and AluClad window and door products in Scandinavia and Europe.  They have been supplying into the UK for over 10 years and setting up a direct division over here is both a significant commitment to their existing customer base, and a sign of the confidence they have in the potential for their products in the market here’.

‘From my point of view, I am really looking forward to helping get the outstanding product range to market.  The products lend themselves perfectly to installers who work in the home-makeover and self-build markets, to builders and developers, and to off-site manufacturers who are looking for sustainably sourced FSC windows and doors and a robust, proven supply chain’.

‘Scandinavian products are really in vogue in the UK these days, and our windows and doors, especially the AluClad range, will also be hugely appealing to trade suppliers who are looking for additional sales opportunities and something new to offer their customers.  Norwood Windows products are innovative, technically efficient and aesthetically pleasing and I am excited to be introducing them to the market here in the UK’.
