*H-vinduet Fjerdingstad AS traces its roots back to the Fjerdingstad Trevarefabrikk AS company which was established in 1949 by the Fjerdingstad family, which still owns and operates the factory located in Hokksund, between Drammen and Kongsberg. In 1959 the first factory in Loesdalsveien was built. The production consisted of windows, doors, kitchen cabinets and other wood products. In 1959, the first prototype on the H-window, the famous housewife window, also arrived.

1949

Fjerdingstad Trevarefabrikk AS was established in 1949 by the Fjerdingstad family, which still owns and operates the factory located in Hokksund, between Drammen and Kongsberg.

1959

The first factory in Loesdalsveien was built. The production consisted of windows, doors, kitchen cabinets and other wood products. In 1959, the first prototype on the H-window, the famous housewife window, also arrived.

1962

We became the first H-window manufacturer in Eastern Norway.

1999

The subsidiary Norwood was created. Norwood established to supply Polish market buying from Fjerdingstad.

2004

We built the first Norwood Windows factory in Poland as a part of our expansion as a business and to better service the demand for windows and doors in our target markets.

2008

We extended the factory – the first of a number of expansion projects which were to come over the following years as demand for our products grew.

2009

We launched our AluClad range for the first time effectively bringing to market a whole new innovative product range. Available in the full range of RAL colours, the AluClad option provides a highly durable external finish which is easy to maintain and very modern in appearance. It provides a best of both worlds option for customers wanting the natural appearance and warmth of timber internally, and a sleek, robust, low maintenance finish externally.

2011

To meet growing demands for even more thermally efficient housing we launched our passive range of products. Adding the ability to incorporate triple glazing up to 48 mm deepwe were able to offer products with u-values as low as 0.73W/m²K to meet the most demanding Passive specifications for windows and doors.

2012

We built 2nd hi-tech window factory @ 6500m² including CNC and robots for finishing whilst concentrating door production in original factory.
To support the success of our growing operation and market demand in our target markets in Scandinavia, Europe and the UK we built a second factory, nearly twice the size of the first one to increase our capacity significantly.

2013

In response to customer requests we launched our first Tilt and Turn window and Tilt and Turn door systems in both timber and with an AluClad option.
Launching this product significantly helped us to develop new markets where the demand for this ‘traditional’ western European window system was high.

2017

As demand continued to outstrip production capacity, we extended our factory space even further with an additional 3000 m² of floor space, and for the first time we began to produce over 1000 frames per week.

2018

As a part of our wider growth and expansion plans across Europe we established Norwood Windows in the UK.  Based on our 10-years’ experience supplying our full range of timber and AluClad frames, Norwood Windows supplies into the domestic home improvement market, offsite construction and commercial and large-scale refurbishment sectors.

2019

We continued with our significant investment programme with the purchase of a £1 million brand new purpose-built robotic manufacturing system to increase capacity at our ultra-modern factory in Poland without compromising our outstand product quality.
