Our history

More than 60 years of satisfied customers


1949

Fjerdingstad Trevarefabrikk AS was established in 1949 by the Fjerdingstad family, which still owns and operates the factory located in Hokksund, between Drammen and Kongsberg. 

1959

The first factory in Loesdalsveien was built. The production consisted of windows, doors, kitchen cabinets and other wood products. In 1959, the first prototype on the H-window, the famous housewife window, also arrived.

1962

We became the first H-window manufacturer in Eastern Norway.

1999

The subsidiary Norwood was created. Norwood established to supply Polish market buying from Fjerdingstad.

2004

Built first Norwood factory. 

2008

Extended factory to 3600m² commissioning first brand new production line for timber windows.

2009

Launched all products with aluclad option.

2011

Launched high performance Passive range.

2012

Built 2nd hi-tech window factory @ 6500m² including CNC and robots for finishing whilst concentrating door production in original factory.

2013

Launch Tilt & Turn range with and without aluminium.

2017

Extended window factory to 9500m² with 200 employees increasing capacity to 1000 units per week.

2018

Established Norwood Windows UK.

2019

£1m+ investment in state of the art robotic cell to increase production capacity.
